Your future position

Kpler’s Agriculture&Dry Bulk business unit is expanding its Metals & Minerals coverage and is looking for a Metals Insight Analyst to join its growing team. In this hybrid role, you will produce original market research across exchange‑traded metals and energy‑transition materials, using Kpler’s proprietary trade flow data alongside broader market intelligence to analyse supply, demand, and price trends. You will communicate your views through research publications, client interactions, webinars, and industry events. Alongside market analysis, you will contribute to the development of Kpler’s Metals & Minerals datasets by working closely with the data operations team to refine, validate, and enhance underlying market data and analytical frameworks. This is a unique opportunity to join Kpler in a true hybrid role. You will spend your time equally as a hands‑on data builder‑creating the underlying frameworks to track the market and a market analyst who translates that data into clear, impactful insights for our clients.

Your mission is to:

  • Produce timely research on metals markets covering trade flows, supply/demand dynamics, price drivers, and macro themes, drawing on Kpler's proprietary data alongside external sources.
  • Form and maintain a view on the price outlook for metals within your coverage; defend this view through publications, client interactions, and public commentary.
  • Build and maintain supply and demand balance frameworks for commodities within your remit, and work closely with the data operations team to develop and validate the underlying datasets that support them.
  • Represent Kpler at industry events, webinars, and conferences; contribute to media outreach and build Kpler's profile within the metals community.
  • Translate complex data and analysis into clear commercial narratives for client engagement alongside Sales and Customer Success.
  • Identify gaps in Kpler's metals coverage and contribute to the product roadmap by surfacing analytical needs and proposing data enhancements; collaborate with Marketing on thought leadership content and event programming.

Experience & Background

Essential

  • 3–6 years of experience as a Commodity Analyst or Researcher with a focus on metals or closely related markets.
  • Advanced Excel and data modelling; ability to build and manage large datasets.
  • Foundational understanding of SQL and/or Python; strong appetite and capability to deploy and develop these programming skills alongside data operations to automate workflows.
  • Demonstrable experience producing published market research, reports, or commentary.
  • Hands‑on experience working with trade data, pricing series, inventory data, and/or positioning data.
  • Experience building or contributing to supply/demand balance models or quantitative market frameworks.
  • Comfortable forming and communicating a price view to external audiences.

Desirable

  • Experience working with proprietary or real‑time trade flow data.
  • Prior involvement in data or product development alongside a research role.
  • Established industry network and/or media profile within metals.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Intellectually curious: proactively interrogates data, questions assumptions, and pursues deeper understanding.
  • Collaborative and hybrid‑minded: comfortable bridging analytical and technical workstreams.
  • Self‑directed: drives projects to completion independently, managing competing priorities across research and data work.
  • Commercially aware: understands what clients and markets care about and frames analysis accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Economics, Statistics, Business, Data Science, Earth Sciences, Engineering, or equivalent).
