Ramboll is seeking to hire a Director of Structural Engineering within our Science & Pharma Service Line in the London market, playing a pivotal role in driving the company’s continued growth and success.

Our “Science & Pharma” Service Line brings together our Buildings capability in our core disciplines of Structural Engineering, Building Services, and Project Management alongside specialised expertise in vibration, lab planning, clean‑rooms, process engineering and more. We serve a broad science market that includes laboratories, commercial science, government science, R&D, pharma manufacturing, and science master planning.

Our ambition is to win and deliver exciting, impactful science projects with purpose. We collaborate with world‑class scientists, utilize our specialist knowledge to deliver complex facilities and strive to be the best engineers in science building design.

Your new role

We are looking for the new Director to share our drive and ambition to build on the recent growth of our Science workload.

The role will be multi‑faceted and includes:

  • Being an influential leader within our organisation, as the most senior Structural Engineer within our London Science & Pharma team.
  • Project / Programme Lead for projects in our portfolio.
  • Leading or serving as the Structural discipline lead on large multi‑disciplinary project teams, supported by Project and Design Managers, to an agreed revenue target and profitability.
  • Building and maintaining trusting relationships with existing and future clients, collaborators and colleagues.
  • Raising Ramboll’s profile and reputation through networking and B2B relationships.
  • Identifying, tracking and pursuing opportunities within the sector, with a focus on the London market.
  • Participating in and where required managing tenders or proposals.
  • Contributing with industry best practice and client insights in the bidding, winning and execution of projects.
  • Coaching, mentoring and supporting the development of our teams’ sector capabilities.
  • Identifying competencies within Ramboll and deploying these on projects to ensure we meet, and exceed, our client’s expectations.
  • Influencing the continued evolution and enrichment of Ramboll’s technical delivery teams.
  • Leading from the front as a role model for Ramboll values.

As a Director

As a Director, you will have the mandate and influence to develop and grow our services within the region and nationally, together with other Directors, and report into our Service Line Leadership.

Based on your extensive understanding of the market, our clients’ business, strategy, and the landscape they operate in, you will identify opportunities and address them with solutions that add value and demonstrate why we at Ramboll are The Partner for Sustainable Change.

Your new team

You will be part of a dynamic 550‑strong UK Buildings division, joining our ‘Science & Pharma’ Service Line team in London. Our portfolio includes exciting projects for private sector, government and academic clients, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the advancement of science in areas including health & life science, biotechnology, materials science, advanced computing, cutting‑edge research, big‑science and more.

Our multi‑disciplinary teams assist our clients and external collaborators in all phases of a project – from developing business plans and strategic planning to selecting the right solutions all the way through design and execution of the project.

You will be a significant contributor to the leadership of the Science Sector where you, together with other Directors, will contribute to setting the strategic priorities for the sector that will ensure our continuous growth.

  • A passion for sustainable design and an interest in driving change towards net‑zero carbon.

  • Effective English oral and written communication skills.
