Base pay range

Stone / Marble / Tile / Ceramics / Joinery Experience

CJS Recruitment are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Estimator with a proven background in stone, ceramic, and tile estimating. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional with 3+ years of estimating experience who can lead complex bid efforts, work closely with project stakeholders, and contribute to the company’s success through accurate and competitive pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for commercial and residential stone, ceramic, and tile projects.
  • Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.
  • Analyse job-specific risks and opportunities to develop strategic and profitable bid proposals.
  • Source and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and up-to-date material costs.
  • Work closely with the preconstruction and project management teams to ensure a seamless transition from estimating to execution.
  • Mentor and support junior and assistant estimators, providing guidance on best practices and company standards.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations as needed.
  • Monitor market trends, cost fluctuations, and competitor activity to maintain competitiveness.
  • Prepare value engineering options and alternative pricing solutions to meet client budgets.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with applicable codes, client specifications, and company standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating, with a strong focus on stone, ceramic, and tile scopes.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry-standard materials, installation techniques, and labour requirements.
  • Proficiency in estimating and take-off software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, AutoCAD).
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in estimating for high-end residential, commercial, hospitality, or institutional projects.
  • Familiarity with LEED certification processes and sustainable construction practices.
  • Working knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
