The Security and Transport Deputy Manager will support the planning and delivery of Games-wide security operations, covering safety management, risk and emergency planning, and stakeholder coordination. Responsibilities include supporting the Security Manager in integrating security processes across venue security, transport, logistics, and scheduling.

Working arrangements

The role will initially be based at the Organising Company’s Glasgow city centre office, with visits to competition venues as required to support the effective delivery of responsibilities. As the Games approach, the role will transition to being primarily based at your assigned competition venue.

The position is initially contracted for 37.5 hours per week (with a 30-minute lunch break), with office attendance aligned to the Organising Company’s working pattern. During the Games‑time operational period, shift patterns will apply and may include evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support operational delivery of Games‑wide Security Operations including but not limited to; Security & Safety Management Plan, Spectator Management Plan and Emergency Management Plan, Risk Management plans, Service Level Agreements, Contingency Plans and Security Policies & Procedures. Delivery will be in alignment with OC security principles, threat levels, legislative requirements (including the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill) and coordinated stakeholder integrated planning principles.
  • Support operational delivery of all venue transport planning requirements including venue transport plans, load zone operational plans, signage plans and venue parking plans. Ensure the integration of OC transport related contractors and their respective plans (bus and traffic management) are incorporated into the venue transport plan.
  • Support the continued monitoring of risk mitigation strategies in accordance with Risk Management Plans.
  • Coordination with internal departments on integration of security processes including but not limited to health & safety, transport and logistics, access control, overlay and scheduling teams.
  • Ensure adherence to integrated planning with OC‑led security workstreams including C3 structures, Games‑wide security and
  • Contribute to venue security resource mapping, final headcount planning and scheduling.
  • Support the management of complex stakeholder matrices, prioritising establishment of effective communication channels, reporting structures, and collaborative, integrated planning.
  • Contribute to working groups / committees established to promote integrated operational design and planning of venue security operations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with key external stakeholders including but not limited to, local policing, authorities, regional and national government institutions and security councils in alignment with OC‑led engagement and governance principles.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience

  • Proven experience in security, transport, venue management or operations for large-scale sporting or major event.
  • Strong understanding of Commonwealth Games clients and their associated transport privileges.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams and client groups.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams including those made up of contractors and volunteers.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, collaborative event or project environments.
  • Good knowledge of Glasgow’s transport network and its venues is desirable.
