Our client has been established for almost 20 years and is recognised as a leading provider of all aspects of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commissioning of a range of bespoke automation solutions for supply to a diverse range of clients throughout the UK. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to complement their highly successful Projects team based near Telford.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple engineering‑level projects, ensuring project Functional Design Specifications (FDS) are developed, signed off and controls layout is aligned with FDS requirements.
- Develop technical documents in line with client requirements, using industry‑standard technical features, diagrams and language.
- Own project gateway sign‑off for automation, including FDS, electrical design, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing.
- Manage resources for each assigned project: identify materials, stay within budget, order and deliver onsite according to the project schedule, and create documentation to satisfy CE/UKCA marking requirements.
- Maintain health & safety compliance, provide high‑level weekly project updates to the management team, detailing key risks, opportunities and escalations.
- Work autonomously or as part of the team, on site and in the workshop, and attend meetings at an associated facility in Nottingham as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience within a logistics automation environment.
- Proven knowledge and experience in electrical / PLC design and development, ideally from conveyor, robotics or automotive arenas.
- Strong skills in scheduling, prioritisation, budget management, task management and risk management.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills at all levels.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and the ability to ensure compliance.
