About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Geography specialist to lead the provision of Geography across the 11-18 age group at Alleyn’s Hampstead. The Head of Geography will manage the department, deliver engaging, challenging and inspiring lessons, and develop schemes of work and collaborative initiatives. The role also involves pastoral support, coaching colleagues, data monitoring, and contributing to the school’s enrichment programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Geography Department, including management of staff and resources.
  • Develop, implement and review department schemes of work, curricula, risk assessments, and policies.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to your Form Group and other students.
  • Coach colleagues to continually develop their teaching practice.
  • Use data to monitor and analyse student progress across the department.
  • Engage a diverse range of learners in physical and human geography across 11-18.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree and PGCE (or equivalent) in Geography or a related subject.
  • Extensive experience in teaching Geography to 11-18 year olds.
  • Experience in developing new schemes of work and broadening the curriculum.
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching colleagues.
  • Experience as a Form Tutor or similar pastoral role.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies.
