Job Title: Business Studies Teacher

Location: Reading, Berkshire, South East England. Employment type: Permanent, Full-Time. Salary: £165 to £245 per day.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective Business Studies lessons in accordance with the curriculum and examination board requirements.
  • Assess and monitor students' progress through marking, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Develop teaching materials and resources that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Support students' academic and personal development by offering guidance and encouragement.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practises.
  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations, including coursework and controlled assessments.
  • Engage with parents or guardians to communicate student progress and address any concerns.
  • Keep up to date with developments in Business Studies and educational best practice through continuous professional development.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all students.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Business Studies, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related subject.
  • Strong academic background in Business Studies or a related discipline at degree level or higher.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to secondary education and Business Studies.
  • Proven experience teaching Business Studies at secondary or further education level.
  • Experience in preparing students for GCSE, A-level, or equivalent examinations is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively and engage students of varying abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Business Studies curriculum and current examination specifications.
  • Strong subject knowledge in areas such as marketing, finance, business operations, and economics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students.
  • Effective organisational skills with the ability to plan lessons and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency in utilising educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
  • Ability to assess student work accurately and provide constructive feedback.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to student welfare.
  • Further qualifications or training in education, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
  • Experience in delivering vocational Business qualifications or BTEC courses.
  • Familiarity with strategies for supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Additional skills in related subjects such as Economics, Accounting, or Enterprise.
