Established in 1965, our nursery has been a staple of the local community for generations. We are a warm, inviting, and community-led setting that prides itself on providing a "home away from home" for our children. With a capacity of 46 (typically averaging 38‑40 daily), we are small enough to feel like a family, but busy enough to keep you on your toes!
The Role
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day running of our setting. You won't be flying solo; you will be supported by a dedicated Admin Assistant for parent enquiries and Sarah, our finance lead, who handles the heavy lifting on the accounts. This allows you to focus on what matters most: quality of care, staff leadership, and the happiness of our children.
- Hours: Flexible! Typically 35‑40 hours per week.
- Pay: £30,000 – £33,000 (Pro Rata) depending on experience
- Shifts: The nursery operates 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM (we are open to discussing flexible start/finish times).
- The Team: You will lead a passionate team of 22 staff (including many part‑time members).
- Operation: We run year‑round, including term time and our popular holiday club.
What You'll Bring to the Table
- Qualifications: Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum).
- Experience: At least 2 years of post‑qualification experience in a leadership role.
- Safety First: Must be DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) qualified and hold a current Paediatric First Aid certificate.
- Character: A community‑focused mindset with the ability to lead a diverse team with empathy and wit.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the daily operations and ensuring Ofsted compliance.
- Mentoring and managing our team of 22 staff.
- Maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for up to 46 children.
- Liaising with the admin and finance teams to ensure smooth communication and reporting.
Why Join Us?
- Ease into the role: We offer a shadowing period until September to ensure you feel confident and settled.
- Support System: Dedicated support staff for admin and finance.
- Stability: Minimum 6‑month contract with a competitive salary in a long‑standing, respected setting.
