Role Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and inspirational clinical leader to step into a pivotal role at London Medical. As Clinical Unit Manager, you will lead our multidisciplinary clinical teams, overseeing governance, operations, and strategic leadership across all patient-facing services. You will work closely with the Centre General Manager, clinical leads, and governance teams to embed a culture of excellence, accountability, and patient‑centred care.

What you’ll do as Clinical Unit Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading and developing a diverse clinical workforce, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care across adult and paediatric pathways. You’ll champion clinical governance, drive service improvement, and foster a culture of learning and accountability. This role requires a confident and experienced leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, patient‑focused environment. You’ll also work collaboratively with consultants, governance teams, and operational colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery and regulatory compliance. Your leadership will be key to maintaining high standards and supporting the continuous development of our clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a visible and credible senior leader across clinical teams
  • Drive a culture of excellence aligned with London Medical’s values
  • Mentor emerging leaders and support succession planning
  • Represent clinical services in senior leadership forums
  • Lead initiatives to improve quality, patient experience, and operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with CQC, NMC, MHRA and other regulatory standards
  • Manage incidents, complaints, and investigations with clear action planning
  • Lead infection prevention and control (IPC) and clinical audit programmes
  • Oversee daily operations, staffing and patient flow
  • Manage recruitment, training, appraisals and performance
  • Provide expert leadership in adult and paediatric care
  • Collaborate with consultants and MDTs to ensure seamless care
  • Chair governance and risk meetings and maintain risk registers
  • Design competency‑based training programmes and support professional development
  • Support budget management and workforce optimisation
  • Ensure billing and documentation meet clinical and commercial standards

Qualifications

Core Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active NMC registration
  • Significant experience in cardiac care and telemetry monitoring
  • Proven leadership in healthcare settings
  • Strong communication, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience in incident handling and conflict resolution

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in cardiac or critical care
  • ALS or CALS certification
  • Previous managerial experience
