Mazco Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer to join a busy and well-established machine shop team. Reporting directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will play a key role in programming advanced 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machinery using HyperMill, supporting the production of high-quality components, tooling, and bespoke solutions for a wide range of industries.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled programmer who enjoys working on both low-volume production and complex one-off prototype projects in a modern manufacturing environment.
The position is Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with a pay rate of up to £28.00 per hour depending on experience and capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Program 3-axis Vertical Machining Centres (VMCs), including machines equipped with 4th and 5th axis rotary tables.
- Create and optimise programs for 5-axis Universal Machining Centres (UMCs).
- Produce CNC programs for low-volume production runs and bespoke prototype components.
- Support the manufacture of custom parts and tooling for both internal projects and customer requirements.
- Machine a variety of materials including aluminium, steel, plastics, epoxy tooling board, and carbon fibre.
- Use CAD software to design fixtures and workholding solutions for one-off and production applications.
- Work closely with machinists and shop floor personnel to improve efficiency and streamline machining processes.
- Provide machining feasibility feedback to the in-house design team on complex tooling and component designs.
- Support the development of apprentices and team members through knowledge sharing and training where required.
Ideal Candidate
- Previous CAD/CAM programming experience using HyperMill is essential.
- Strong understanding of 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining.
- Experience working within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a skilled engineering team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
