Job Title: Research Engineer (AI / Machine Learning)
Location: London, Kings Cross (3 days a week onsite)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9–6pm (40 hours/week)
Duration: ASAP – 6 Month FTC
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join an advanced AI research team focused on developing next‑generation machine learning systems, large‑scale models, and intelligent agents. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about building cutting‑edge AI technologies, conducting impactful research, and solving highly complex systems challenges.
You will work alongside world‑class researchers and engineers, contributing directly to innovative projects that push the boundaries of generative AI, LLMs, and machine learning infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting‑edge research to advance machine learning systems and large‑scale AI models.
- Design tools, methods, and infrastructure that improve performance and scalability of advanced AI systems.
- Collaborate closely with research scientists, engineers, and cross‑functional partners.
- Develop and deliver production‑quality code in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Translate research insights into actionable product or engineering recommendations.
- Communicate research plans, results, and progress clearly and effectively.
- Contribute to publications, benchmarks, and open‑source research where applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Machine learning
- Recommendation systems
- Pattern recognition
- Experience building machine learning models at scale (including LLM querying and post‑training).
- Strong programming experience in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Proven experience executing complex experiments with large models and datasets.
- Ability to convert research insights into business or product decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience in generative AI or LLM research.
- Master’s or PhD focused on machine learning, AI, physics, or related fields.
- Experience developing intelligent agents or automation systems.
- Exposure to open‑source AI tools and research platforms.
