Our client, a global leader in power and propulsion innovation, is seeking a Safety Engineer to support a flagship aerospace product and technology development programme. You’ll join the Electrical, Electronics, Systems & Software Safety team, working across complex systems engineering and safety assessments to support cutting-edge electrical power systems development.
This role offers the chance to influence the next generation of aircraft propulsion technologies while collaborating with experienced, multi-disciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hazard and failure condition assessments using FHA, FTA, PSSA, SSA, CCA, FME(C)A, ZSA, PRA.
- Develop and maintain hazard logs and reliability assessments for complex systems.
- Derive functional safety requirements and manage their implementation with design teams and suppliers.
- Support compliance to ARP4761, CS25.1309, and other aerospace or defence standards.
- Collaborate with system engineers to understand degradation/failure mechanisms and use modelling tools for risk quantification.
Required Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or a related discipline.
- Proven background in safety assessment (hazards, FMECAs, fault trees, common cause analysis).
- Familiarity with ARP4761, ISO 26262, or similar.
- Knowledge of tools such as Reliability Workbench, BlockSim, or Lambda Predict.
- Experience managing safety requirements across the product development lifecycle.
Preferred
- Aerospace or defence experience.
- Understanding of aircraft electrical systems including generators, converters, and energy storage.
- Exposure to ARP4754 and DEF-STAN 00-056.
Location: Bristol or Derby, hybrid working (3 days onsite)
