Employment Tax Manager – Reading or Southampton

I am working with a prestigious firm that is looking to appoint an Employment Tax Manager into their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing practice offering strong client exposure, varied advisory work, and genuine progression prospects. The role can be based in either Reading or Southampton.

The Role

You will manage a portfolio of clients, providing expert advice across all areas of employment tax while supporting the development of the wider team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on PAYE, NIC, benefits-in-kind, expenses, termination payments, IR35, and employment status
  • Managing compliance processes including PSAs, P11Ds, and HMRC disclosures
  • Supporting HMRC enquiries, audits, and negotiations
  • Advising on reward structures, workforce planning, expatriate tax, and share schemes (where applicable)
  • Acting as the main client contact and identifying advisory opportunities
  • Supporting proposals, business development, and thought leadership
  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to service line growth

About You

  • ATT, CTA, or equivalent qualified
  • Strong UK employment tax technical knowledge and HMRC experience
  • Background in professional services or HMRC within employment tax
  • Confident managing client relationships and delivering high-quality advice
  • Experience handling HMRC enquiries and leading on negotiations
  • Strong communicator with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
