Role Description
This is a contract hybrid role for a Road Safety Engineer based in Medway, Kent. The position involves conducting road safety assessments, accident analysis, and designing measures to improve road safety. Responsibilities include engaging with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, providing technical advice, and collaborating with design and construction teams to integrate safety solutions. Remote working is available for part of the position, with regular on‑site visits in and around Medway, Kent.
Responsibilities
- Developing a range of road safety projects which improve the safety of highway provision to service users
- Assessing requests from customers, including elected Members and the public, regarding road safety issues
- Undertaking local and wider‑area road safety reviews and collision studies
- Undertaking client role for road safety projects
- Working in partnership with colleagues within the Directorate and wider Council, and with the Police and other stakeholders on road safety issues
- Undertaking road safety audits
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Safety Engineering and Road Safety standards
- Member of the Society of Road Safety Auditors (MSoRSA) or similar
- Experience in completing Road Safety Audits as Team Leader or Team Member and in undertaking RSA reports
- Educational background in Civil Engineering, Road Safety, or a related discipline
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience in transport or infrastructure projects will be advantageous
