Panoramic Associates are supporting a Local Authority with the recruitment of a substantive Deputy Director of Public Health.

Job Title: Deputy Director of Public Health

Salary: Up to approx. £105k per annum, plus £5k supplement

Relocation Package: Available

Working Arrangement: Full-time ideally

This is a high-profile role requiring exceptional leadership, communication, and partnership skills to influence across organisations and deliver complex public health priorities.

Role:

  • Deputise for the DPH and drive strategies that improve health, reduce inequalities, and protect communities across the region
  • Dealwithcomplexpublichealthissues,advisethehealthand wellbeingboard andmake recommendations regarding services and patient care and play a full part in ensuring a public health delivery across council priorities
  • Act as a highly visible leader, not only in the organisation but also across the system. A high level of communication skills are required, liaising with a range of stakeholders including the media, elected officials, chief executives, boards and committees and the general public.
  • Act as a senior leader, where tact and diplomacy is required, including an ability to understand other cultures, advise, challenge and advocate toenable effective working across organisationalboundaries and influencing without direct authority.

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of the health and care system, local/national government, and wider determinants of health
  • Knowledge of clinical quality assurance, quality improvement, and evidence-based public health practice
  • Strong strategic leadership with experience in change management across organisations
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and work effectively within political systems
  • Skilled in partnership working and motivating organisations to improve public health
  • Proven ability to lead responses in complex, unforeseen situations
  • Experience in policy development, strategy implementation, and media engagement
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex issues to varied audiences
  • Ability to lead teams and collaborate across all levels
  • Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (with a license to practice) or within 6 months of CCT at the date of interview.
