The Opportunity
Want to lead a flagship mechanical package on one of Central London’s most high-profile refurbishments?We are working with a leading building services contractor delivering a major £36M MEP refurbishment of a prime commercial asset in the West End.The scheme involves a full transformation of an existing building, taking it through shell & core upgrade and into high-spec commercial space, requiring complex phasing, coordination, and high-end delivery standards.This is a key role within the project team, offering full ownership of the mechanical package on a technically challenging, logistically complex central London scheme.
The Role
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of the mechanical services package from design and procurement through to installation, commissioning, and handover.You will work closely with senior project leadership, managing subcontractors, driving programme, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety on site.
Key Responsibilities
Project LeadershipTake full ownership of the mechanical package on a major commercial refurbishment Lead the project from pre-construction through to completion and handoverEnsure delivery in line with programme, budget, and quality expectations
Design & Technical ManagementManage the development and coordination of mechanical designReview drawings, specifications, and technical submissionsIdentify and resolve design clashes and technical challengesEnsure compliance with all regulations, standards, and client requirementsProcurement & Commercial AwarenessOversee procurement of mechanical plant, materials, and subcontract packagesDevelop and manage procurement schedules aligned to programmeWork closely with commercial teams on cost control and reportingMonitor project performance against budget and targets
Construction & DeliveryManage site teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient deliveryCoordinate mechanical installation with other trades and main contractorDrive programme and sequencing across a constrained central London siteEnsure works are delivered safely and to the highest quality standards
Stakeholder ManagementAct as the key point of contact for mechanical services on the projectBuild strong relationships with client, consultants, and main contractorLead and contribute to progress meetings and reporting
Commissioning & HandoverManage mechanical commissioning strategy and executionOversee testing, snagging, and xwzovoh final handover processesEnsure a smooth transition to completion with minimal defects
The Candidate
Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager on large commercial projectsStrong background delivering refurbishment or shell & core schemes in LondonExperience managing mechanical packages typically £10M+Strong technical understanding of mechanical building servicesExperience managing projects through design, procurement, and delivery phasesExcellent stakeholder management and communication skillsAbility to manage complex logistics and sequencing in a live/central London environment
