Overview

Step into the role of a Private Bank and Wealth Management COO Chief of Staff Office at Barclays. In this role you will enable the success of senior executives by helping navigate complex challenges, make informed decisions and deliver against their strategic objectives. This Investment role requires you to own and manage PBWM COO Senior Management governance and reporting, ensuring stringent compliance with SMR requirements, and manage and deliver colleague engagement activities across PBWM COO.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic support to senior executives, such as the CEO or other top-level leaders including assistance in the development and execution of in-year and multi-year business strategy, research, and analysis to support decision-making and act as delegate for the senior executive in specific situations.
  • Management of colleague engagement planning in line with the strategic direction, managing communication channels and ensuring effective coordination across different departments and teams.
  • Management of key projects and strategic initiatives on behalf of senior executives, ensuring projects are on track, monitoring progress, and providing regular updates to the executive team.
  • Improvement of operational efficiency with functional partners, identifying areas for improvement, streamlining processes, and implementing consistently excellent best practices to enhance productivity.
  • Development of performance reporting for key metrics that reinforce strategic objectives, support external commitments, and involve financial analysis and budget management including planning, forecasting, cost management and monitoring of financial performance against targets.
  • Support to senior leadership to ensure appropriate resourcing across the business/function including planning and forecasting, partnering with HR for talent development and succession planning, identifying high-potential employees, mentoring, leadership development and diversity initiatives.
  • Support to the senior executive with risk and control oversight, escalation, crisis management and risk mitigation, contingency planning, emergency response coordination and business continuity.
  • Implementation of a robust governance framework to support the board of directors, executive forums and governance committees through board materials, meeting organization, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Proven experience in bringing structure, pace and clarity to complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Proactive problem solving and the ability to manage competing priorities with speed and accuracy.
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience producing clear, concise and impactful senior-level updates and briefings.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capability, building trusted relationships across functions, teams and seniority levels.
  • Confidence operating with stakeholders across all corporate levels, including Managing Director, with credibility and discretion.
  • Experience planning and delivering senior internal events, including leadership offsites and all-colleague town halls.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to interpret performance data and workforce planning.
  • A mindset focused on smarter ways of working, including leveraging automation and AI to improve productivity and effectiveness.

Additional Skills

  • Experience or understanding of the Private Banking and Wealth Management business.
  • Experience working in Business Management.
  • Organisational awareness across multiple areas of the organisation and how to get things done.
  • Proven track record of working across a complex matrix organisation.
