We’re recruiting for a Service / Depot Manager to take full ownership of a busy, high-performing operation in Birmingham for a leading player in the materials handling sector.

This is a hands‑on leadership role. You’ll be responsible for driving performance across the workshop and field service teams, keeping customers happy, and making sure the depot runs efficiently and profitably.

The Role

  • Lead and manage engineers (workshop + field-based)
  • Oversee all service, maintenance, and repair activity
  • Drive utilisation, productivity, and first‑time fix rates
  • Manage scheduling, planning, and job allocation
  • Full responsibility for depot P&L performance
  • Ensure high levels of customer service and SLA delivery
  • Maintain health & safety standards across the depot
  • Control costs, parts, and stock effectively

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Service/Depot/Workshop Manager role
  • Background in materials handling, plant hire, powered access, or similar equipment
  • Strong leadership able to manage and motivate engineers
  • Commercially aware with P&L responsibility
  • Organised, decisive, and able to run a fast-paced operation
  • Customer focused with a track record of improving service delivery
