As a Teacher of the Deaf in Huddersfield, you will deliver tailored lessons and specialist support to pupils with hearing impairments. You will adapt teaching methods, use visual and communication strategies, and ensure learning is accessible for every pupil. The successful Teacher of the Deaf in Huddersfield will work collaboratively with school staff, families and specialist services to provide consistent and effective support.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver adapted and engaging lessons for pupils with hearing impairments

  • Monitor and assess pupil progress and adapt teaching approaches accordingly
  • Encourage independence, confidence and participation in the classroom

Requirements:

The ideal Teacher of the Deaf will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • A Teacher of the Deaf qualification or willingness to work towards one (desirable)
  • Experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments or additional needs
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and SEN support
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • A patient, supportive and inclusive teaching style
