Buyer – Construction

Location: Reading (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days home)

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + benefits

We are working with a well-established construction company in Reading that is looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to join their growing procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality projects while benefiting from a flexible working environment.

The Role

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, plant, and subcontract services across a range of construction projects. You will work closely with project managers and commercial teams to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the procurement of materials and subcontract packages
• Negotiating with suppliers to secure best value and terms
• Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
• Monitoring market trends and pricing fluctuations
• Supporting project teams with cost planning and supply chain strategy
• Ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry standards

About You

• Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within construction
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills
• Good knowledge of construction materials and supply chains
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
