About the Company

We are a high-growth technology company operating large-scale, real-time distributed systems used by hundreds of thousands of users globally. Since our launch over a decade ago, our platform has processed tens of billions in transaction volume and continues to operate at significant scale and low latency.

Our technology stack is built for performance, reliability, and speed, including AWS, Linux, Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native services, with applications written in Python, C++, and modern frontend frameworks. We operate in a highly regulated, mission-critical environment where engineering quality and operational excellence are essential.

About the Role

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure team. This team is responsible for the platforms and tooling that power real-time, distributed, high-throughput systems.

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure while enabling development teams through strong platform engineering and self-service tooling. You’ll work at the intersection of infrastructure, DevOps, and developer productivity in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment. This is a hands-on role with broad technical exposure across the organisation.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and Own Cloud Infrastructure: Architect and operate AWS-based infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and cloud-native best practices.
  • Platform Engineering: Build and evolve internal developer platforms that enable self-service infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and security tooling.
  • Production Support & Debugging: Triage and resolve issues across Kubernetes, networking, cloud services, applications, and data pipelines.
  • DevOps & IaC Practices: Implement and improve infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, alerting, and environment provisioning.
  • Engineering Standards: Define and uphold best practices across infrastructure, operations, and delivery pipelines.
  • Microservices at Scale: Support and optimise Kubernetes-based microservices for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Security & Compliance: Own infrastructure security posture and support audits such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
  • Reliability Engineering: Improve availability and latency for high-throughput, low-latency systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to improve developer experience and platform capabilities.

Required Technical Experience

  • Strong AWS experience (EKS, VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, RDS)
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Advanced Kubernetes knowledge (Helm, ingress, scaling, security hardening)
  • Scripting and automation using Python and Bash
  • Networking and security fundamentals (VPCs, VPNs, DNS, TLS, IAM, OIDC/SAML)
  • Observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Sentry, or similar)
  • CI/CD and internal developer tooling (GitLab, Jenkins, Backstage, or similar)
  • Experience supporting data platforms such as PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and object storage
  • Familiarity with security frameworks, incident response, RBAC, and compliance workflows

Nice to Have

  • Platform engineering concepts such as golden paths, self-service portals, or PaaS abstractions
  • Experience building SRE or developer enablement tooling
  • Background scaling infrastructure in fast-growing or high-scale environments

What You Bring

  • 4 years’ experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering
  • Ability to balance long-term architectural thinking with pragmatic execution
  • Collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring and raising engineering standards
  • Strong focus on reliability, scalability, and simplicity
  • Salary up to £100,000
  • Equity participation
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Daily meals and office refreshments
  • Annual learning and development budget
  • Hybrid working: 3 days in office / 2 days remote
