Role Title: Installation Design Engineer – CAD/AutoCAD
£350 – £400 per day – Outside IR35
Remote – Able to travel to Warick
Job Summary
Responsible for supporting the design and installation of telecommunications systems through the production and management of accurate CAD-based 2D and 3D designs. Ensures designs meet technical, health & safety, and quality standards while supporting design teams with AutoCAD tools and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain detailed 2D and 3D installation designs for telecoms systems (Wi-Fi, DAS, PAVA, telephony)
- Support design teams with AutoCAD and CAD software to ensure accuracy and feasibility of designs
- Prepare installation guides and documentation for complex or original designs
- Conduct site surveys to gather accurate measurements and installation requirements
- Provide dimensions and technical data to CAD teams for precise drawings
- Develop and maintain CAD standards, templates, and procedures
- Review and check designs to ensure compliance with H&S, quality, and technical requirements
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and support the production of bills of materials, equipment layouts, and schematics
- Identify efficiencies in CAD processes while maintaining clarity and quality of documentation
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience producing installation designs for telecoms systems using AutoCAD/CAD tools
- Strong understanding of 2D and 3D CAD environments
- Knowledge of H&S, quality, and technical standards in design
- Ability to coordinate inputs from technical, financial, and business teams
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills
- Attention to detail and ability to simplify complex installation requirements
Desirable
- AutoCAD certification
- Degree or HND/HNC in an engineering or telecoms-related subject
- Experience with telecoms systems design (Wi-Fi, DAS, PAVA, telephony)
