Our client is a well-established provider of automated access solutions, specialising in the installation, maintenance, and repair of gates, barriers, and access control systems. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join their team, covering the Reading region and surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on engineer with electro‑mechanical experience who enjoys working in the field and delivering high‑quality service to customers.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the servicing, fault‑finding, and repair of a range of automated gate and barrier systems. You will work independently across customer sites, ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of automated gates and barrier systems
- Diagnose and resolve electro‑mechanical faults on‑site
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety standards
- Provide excellent customer service and technical support to clients
- Accurately complete service reports and documentation
- Participate in an overtime and on‑call rota where required
Requirements
- Proven experience in electro‑mechanical engineering (essential)
- Experience working with automated gates, barriers, or similar systems (highly desirable)
- Basic PLC knowledge or experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Ideally based in or near Reading
