Sewell Wallis are working with a well-established Professional Services business based in Sheffield to secure a skilled Finance Business Partner for their Commercial Finance Team, to partner and support one of the companies more strategically important business units with a revenue of approx. £65mil.
You’ll be a trusted advisor, working closely with stakeholders to provide high-quality financial insight, performance reporting and commercial challenge to help drive profitability, efficiency and long-term growth. To be a successful candidate you’ll need to be commercially-minded, a strong communicator who is comfortable challenging and influencing key stakeholders where needed, alongside having strong technical skill around forecasting and modelling, particularly using PowerBI.
This role doesn’t include management of a team, and operates as a stand alone Business Partner for the division, reporting in the Commercial Finance Manager, giving you autonomy and ownership.
What will you be doing?
- Producing insightful performance reporting, forecasts and commentary to influence decision making.
- Leading and supporting budgeting, re-forecasting, expected financial outcome (EFO) and longer‑term strategic planning processes.
- Building and maintaining robust financial and forecasting models, including income and scenario modelling.
- Interpreting KPIs and performance data to identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency – working to create accessible dashboards for the team.
- Working closely with Commercial Insight, Business Performance, FP&A and Group Finance teams to improve reporting, controls and commercial awareness.
- Acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, challenging assumptions and supporting the delivery of key projects.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across Finance and the wider business.
What skills are we looking for?
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post‑qualification experience
- Strong experience in analytical finance roles, including building and maintaining complex financial models
- Advanced Excel and Power BI skills, with the ability to turn data into meaningful insight.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders, providing challenge and clear financial advice.
- A strategic mindset, with experience supporting budgets, forecasts and longer‑term planning.
- Experience working within a corporate service sector industry would be beneficial.
- Happy to consider someone with a Business Partner background, or a commercial Finance Controller with strong PowerBI and analytic experience.
