Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Company

My client is a dynamic and growing business based in Essex, seeking an organised and proactive Office Manager to oversee day-to-day operations while supporting our finance function. This hybrid role offers a balance of office and remote working and the opportunity to take ownership of both administrative and accounting responsibilities.

The Role

The Office Manager will ensure the smooth running of the office, manage administrative processes, and take responsibility for basic accounting tasks. You will be the central point of contact for office operations and provide support to the finance team where needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day office operations, supplies, and facilities
  • Acting as the first point of contact for staff and visitors
  • Supporting the accounts function, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and expense processing
  • Assisting with invoicing, payments, and reconciliations
  • Preparing basic management reports and financial summaries
  • Coordinating meetings, travel, and diaries for senior management
  • Maintaining filing systems, records, and office documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and health & safety regulations
  • Supporting HR administration, including onboarding and staff records

Requirements

  • Previous office management experience, preferably in a hybrid environment
  • Some experience in accounts or finance, such as bookkeeping, invoicing, or ledger management
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities

Desirable

  • Part-qualified accounting background (AAT or similar)
  • Experience in SME or commercial environments
