We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Fire Engineer to join our growing team at Metro Safety. The successful candidate will support the delivery of fire engineering solutions across a wide range of residential and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations while contributing to innovative and practical design solutions. This role offers pathways for progression within the business, supported by experience, professional development, and accreditation.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review fire strategies in line with UK Building Regulations and relevant guidance
  • Undertake FRAEWs (Fire Risk Appraisal of External Walls) and external wall appraisal assessments
  • Provide technical notes, reports, and formal responses to client and design team queries
  • Carry out and support site inspections, including intrusive surveys where required
  • Review drawings, specifications, and fire safety information for compliance and best practice
  • Provide remediation design reviews and technical input to support fire safety improvements
  • Assist in the development of fire safety designs, including means of escape, compartmentation, smoke control, and suppression systems
  • Support and attend meetings with clients, contractors, and wider design teams
  • Liaise effectively with stakeholders to develop compliant and practical fire safety solutions
  • Assist with general fire engineering consultancy work across both residential and commercial projects
  • Contribute to fire risk assessments and existing building safety reviews
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and fire safety standards
  • Familiarity with FRAEWs, external wall systems, and remediation approaches (desirable)
  • Experience with fire engineering tools/software (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively
