Software Engineering Manager

Certain Advantage is hiring for a Software Engineering Manager based in the Farnborough area. This role is on a contract basis, site‑based.

The Company

We’re working with a manufacturing business that operates in the aerospace sector. They design, manufacture, and deliver industry‑leading commercial aircraft, and a separate Space and Defence division.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

• Lead the day‑to‑day activities of the software team.
• Plan, design, develop, verify, and integrate the software for the high‑altitude, long‑endurance Zephyr aircraft.
• Act as the technical authority for software, ensuring compliance with safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Specify and develop high‑level and low‑level software requirements.

The Individual

We’re looking for people who can show:

• Educational background up to a Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Electronics, Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
• Work exposure to a senior software engineer, technical lead or similar role leading or mentoring a team of software engineers.
• Experience creating safety‑critical software in C/C++/Ada or similar languages.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards, including ARP‑4761A, ARP‑4754A, DO‑178C, DO‑254A, DO‑248, DO‑300 and similar standards.
• Proficiency with requirements definition, management and verification.
