Internal Auditor (Automotive) – Midlands Based | UK Travel
Salary: £55,000 and company car
Cherry Professional are recruiting for an Internal Auditor to join a high end and well-established automotive business. Based in the Midlands or Home Counties (there is a high degree of flexibility in terms of location) this role offers genuine variety and autonomy, with nationwide travel to sites across the UK and within the EU to deliver audits, strengthen controls, and support operational improvement.
The Role
Working as part of the Internal Audit function, you’ll deliver the audit plan across a multi-site operation, providing independent assurance and practical recommendations to improve processes, controls, and risk management.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver end-to-end audits: planning, fieldwork, testing, and reporting
- Review operational and financial controls across UK sites and head office functions
- Identify control gaps and process improvement opportunities, producing clear and actionable recommendations
- Present findings to stakeholders and support follow-up to ensure actions are implemented
- Build effective relationships with site leadership teams and central functions
- Maintain high standards of documentation, testing, and audit quality
- Regular UK travel (including occasional overnight stays where required)
About You
You’ll be a confident, commercially aware auditor who can balance challenge with collaboration.
We’re looking for:
- A Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA)
- Proven internal audit experience, ideally with Automotive experience but for the right person we can train this aspect of the business.
- Strong understanding of risk and internal controls (operational and financial)
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence stakeholders
- A self-starter who is highly organised, able to manage a workload across multiple locations.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide and occasionally abroad.
