Role Overview
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Professor in the School of Psychology who can demonstrate an emerging international research profile that complements and expands upon our existing strengths.
Key Responsibilities
- Further increase the quality of research output in publications and external grant funding, and engage in the impact of that research.
- Recruit and inspire the next generation of psychologists.
- Take an international perspective on how research is conducted and implemented.
- Lecturing, running seminars, conducting assessments, and devising and overseeing research projects (BSc, MSc).
- Provide deep learning to achieve high student satisfaction by designing, planning and delivering high quality teaching which can be evaluated and reflected upon.
- Design and lead independent research programmes and pursue relevant funding to achieve their aims.
- Supervise and line‑manage research students and researchers, present and interpret outcomes and findings, and engage with external stakeholders to influence policy and science.
- Demonstrate high level interpersonal skills with a global community, work within university regulations and governance, and quickly learn system requirements.
- Be flexible, occasionally teaching outside one’s research area, and contribute wider to the school and institution, including representing the school externally.
Qualifications
- A PhD or equivalent in a subject area related to Psychology is essential.
- Emerging international research profile with publications and grant experience.
- Strong teaching and research management experience.
Benefits and Working Conditions
Working hours: 36.25 hours per week. Part‑time work (minimum 80% FTE) may be considered. Job share arrangements are possible.
