About this role

We are seeking a detail-oriented HSSE Specialist to join our team at Osbit. Under the supervision of the HSSEQ Director, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring site-specific HSSE operations and tasks. You will be a primary contact for employees concerning safety-related matters and will be responsible for the application of the Osbit HSSE programmes. You will be a key driver in advancing Osbit’s HSSE Programme.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintenance and improvement of the HSSE (Q) Management systems, ensuring it complies with ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015 and supporting with ISO 9001:2015.
  • Ensuring that company strategies, policies and management system requirements for conventional health & safety are communicated and understood.
  • Provide HSSE functional support to the business and projects.
  • Maintaining and promoting high standards in Environment, Safety, Health and Security.
  • Leading the development and execution of project HSSE deliverables and associated documentation.
  • Carry out risk assessments, develop safe systems of work and promote safe practices at site.
  • Monitor and assess hazardous work and carry out interventions as required.
  • Conduct Site Safety inspections, inspect premises and the work environments to ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work and Osbit HSSE processes.
  • Carry out internal and external audits & organise and manage 3rd party audits from certification bodies.
  • Carry out investigation of incidents.
  • Promoting learning and improvement through operational briefings, toolbox talks and presentations.
  • Provide HSSE support to UK & International projects (travel required) internally and customer facing.
  • Deliver internal training & inductions.
  • Manage HSSE databases and compliance registers and carry out trend analysis.
  • Support health and wellbeing surveillance and initiatives.

About you

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate complex HSE risks.
  • Flexible and adaptable within dynamic, high-pressure environments across offshore, wind, oil & gas, and construction sectors.
  • A solid team player with a holistic view, fostering collaboration between technical, operational, and safety teams.
  • Willingness to learn and embrace new challenges, with cross-disciplinary training in safety, quality, and environmental systems.
  • Strong ownership mindset, self-driven, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Willingness to travel to offshore sites, manufacturing facilities, and customer locations as required.

Your experience

  • Qualified and certified with NEBOSH/IOSH credentials, preferably to diploma level. Internal auditor certifications (ISO 9001/14001/45001), and relevant safety training.
  • Proven experience in HSE roles, with a minimum of 3 years ideally across wind, oil & gas, manufacturing, or construction industries.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HSE legislation, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation processes, and management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and implement safety programs, audits, and compliance initiatives in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English, with the ability to engage stakeholders, regulators, auditors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Fully software literate, proficient in Microsoft Office and digital systems, ensuring efficient reporting, documentation, and analysis.

Further information

  • Successful applicants be based at our Riding Mill headquarters, in North East England, working on site as required, along with regular visits to our Shed at Port of Blyth.
  • Working abroad may be required at times to visit customers, suppliers, etc.
