Leveraged Finance Solicitor — Associate / Senior Associate
Leading National Law Firm · Manchester · 3–6 years PQE · Hybrid Working
About our client
We are acting on behalf of a well‑regarded national law firm with a strong and growing Banking & Finance practice. Their Manchester office is dynamic and entrepreneurial in character, and sits within a national banking team that operates as a single, joined‑up group — giving lawyers based in Manchester the benefits of a strong local identity alongside the resource, structure and deal flow of a nationally recognised practice.
The firm is consistently recognised for its people‑first culture, having achieved Platinum Standard Investors in People accreditation, and offers a genuinely flexible and supportive environment alongside high‑quality work and competitive remuneration.
The opportunity
This is an excellent role for an ambitious banking and finance lawyer looking to play a meaningful part in building a market‑leading leveraged finance practice across Manchester and the North. With a consistent volume of transactions and real matter responsibility on offer, this is not a role where you will be a small cog in a large machine — there is genuine scope to shape the team’s local profile and to advance your career with the full backing of an established national platform.
The work
The focus of the role is leveraged finance, though the work is broader and encompasses corporate financings, sponsor‑led transactions and growth lending and venture debt. You will work across the full transaction lifecycle — drafting and negotiating facilities agreements and security documents in both LMA and non‑LMA form, negotiating intercreditor arrangements, and collaborating closely with corporate and restructuring colleagues. The team also carries a material portfolio of in‑life work, advising lenders and borrowers on waivers, resets, restatements and bolt‑ons.
Acting for borrowers, lenders and investors alike, the team has a practical, well‑rounded understanding of all sides of a financing transaction. There is also ample opportunity to get involved in client development initiatives and to contribute to the continued growth of the Manchester practice.
What we’re looking for
- A qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with between 3 and 6 years’ PQE
- Strong leveraged finance experience, alongside cashflow and general banking knowledge
- Experience across the full transaction lifecycle, liaising with lenders, borrowers, intermediaries and/or investors
- A naturally proactive approach and genuine enthusiasm for banking and finance work
- Ambition to contribute to practice development and build a presence in the Manchester and North of England market
What’s on offer
- A market‑leading leveraged finance practice with a strong and consistent deal flow
- Real matter responsibility and the chance to help shape a growing local team
- The support and structure of a major national firm with a genuinely entrepreneurial Manchester office
- Flexible working arrangements and a people‑focused, inclusive culture
- Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package
