The RAS Team Leader plays a key role in leading safe and effective Replenishment at Sea (RAS) training activities. The role focuses on hands‑on leadership, particularly around lifting operations, equipment safety and safe ways of working.

You’ll lead the RAST rig day to day, making sure all lifting and training activity is carried out safely, compliantly and by appropriately qualified personnel. This role is central to maintaining high training standards and providing assurance that training activity is safe and ready to deliver, while meeting contractual and quality requirements. Full‑time role, 37.5 hours a week (Monday – Friday)

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead day‑to‑day RAS training and lifting activities, ensuring work is carried out safely and in line with agreed procedures
  • Maintain and apply safe systems of work for all lifting, rig and training activity
  • Ensure tasks are planned, supervised and delivered by appropriately qualified and authorised staff
  • Provide clear leadership to the RAST team, setting expectations around safety, professionalism and teamwork
  • Support the development and ongoing competence of team members, including qualifications and authorisations
  • Oversee the condition, availability and safe use of RAS training equipment, working with maintenance teams as needed
  • Deliver RAS instruction and support training activity in line with the approved training programme
  • Act as a key point of contact for Royal Navy and internal stakeholders on safety, equipment and training delivery matters

What we’re looking for

  • Experience/knowledge of how training is delivered within a military or defence environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of lifting operations and safe systems of work.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent H&S qualification).
  • Knowledge or experience of maintenance management systems.
  • Academically or vocationally qualified in a relevant technical or training discipline.
  • IT competent (ECDL or equivalent).
  • Lifting equipment examiner qualification (or ability to achieve).
  • Experience in first‑line or team leadership roles.
  • Equipment availability or maintenance supervision experience.
  • Defence Train the Trainer qualification (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work at height.
