The Director of Engineering provides strategic and operational leadership for Pall Aerospace’s UK engineering organization across multiple sites in Portsmouth and Redruth, ensuring world-class execution across new product development, sustaining engineering, compliance, and innovation. This role translates business and technology strategies into actionable engineering priorities, drives delivery on commitments, and builds a high‑performing engineering team.

This position is an on‑site role based in Portsmouth, UK, reporting to the VP‑Global Engineering and is part of the Aerospace Engineering Leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the engineering strategy for the Portsmouth and Redruth sites, aligning with global business objectives and technology roadmaps.
  • Lead resource planning, performance management, talent development, and succession planning to build a strong, engaged engineering organization.
  • Establish clear objectives, KPIs, and governance processes to ensure on‑time, on‑cost, and on‑quality delivery.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management to drive seamless execution and resolve technical challenges.
  • Advance Pall Aerospace’s filtration and separation technologies through innovation, VAVE initiatives, and obsolescence management.
  • Provide technical oversight for all NPI/NPD and sustaining engineering projects from concept through production release and drive rapid resolution of technical issues impacting production, quality, and customer delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to aerospace standards (AS9100), gated development processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • The incumbent will also serve as HDO (Head of Design Organization) from a CAA perspective, providing leadership over design governance, regulatory engagement, and airworthiness compliance.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant engineering experience with emphasis on support and sustainment programs OR Master’s/Doctoral degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in aerospace or similarly regulated, high‑reliability industries.
  • Proven track record leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex product development programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of aerospace standards (AS9100), gated development processes, and regulated product environments.
  • Demonstrated success driving NPI/NPD execution, cost‑reduction programs, and sustaining engineering performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
