A global energy trading and investment firm is hiring a software engineer to work on its world-class weather forecasting platform. Weather data plays a critical role in the firm’s quantitative research and trading strategies, and the team builds high-performance systems that ingest and process atmospheric data used directly in pricing models.
You’ll join a small engineering team (3 people) responsible for building and maintaining the firm’s forecasting infrastructure and helping researchers move models into production.
The role:
- Develop high-performance backend systems in C++ on Linux
- Work on a real-time forecasting platform that processes data from external and internal weather models with predictions extending out to 3 weeks +
- Collaborate with quant researchers and traders to translate research ideas into production systems
- Run forecasting models and data pipelines in AWS
- Contribute to integration of AI / machine learning weather models
- Improve system speed and reliability (minutes can matter commercially)
Your Profile:
- Experience building backend systems on Linux
- Willingness to work with Python (internal tools and data clients)
- Interest in high-performance or low-latency systems
- Background/exposure to meteorology / atmospheric science or closely related field
- Location: London, Berlin or Geneva (Singapore considered)
Candidates from organisations such as ECMWF, national meteorological agencies, weather tech companies, or atmospheric research groups would be particularly relevant.
