GBR Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading main contractor construction company, who deliver main contractor construction projects across Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire & East Midlands regions, recruiting for an experienced Estimator.

Our client is a well established major construction company working across all build types and industry sectors (public & private sector builds/developments) with clients across education, blue light, commercial, industrial, healthcare, social housing & other end users.

Duties

  • Deliver a competitive, margin focused & accurate tendering function for high worth build projects from £100K to £10M across new build premises & refurbishment projects ensuring commercial viability & limited risk to the business.
  • Support build programs & tender bids by preparing accurate cost estimates working closely with the wider commercial team and pre‑construction & onsite build teams / skilled trades.
  • Attend tender review meetings and play a key role in them.
  • Review & appraise tender / PQQ documents, and successfully prepare sub‑contract & material enquiries.
  • Produce accurately detailed & accurately measured bills of quantities (BOQs).
  • Implement risk mitigation methods / analysis and added value / profit margin & revenue management.
  • Prepare budgets, estimates, forecasts & construction cost plans.
  • Act as one of the value engineering leads.
  • Support external client presentations / negotiations.

Attributes

  • Professional Construction / Built Environment Estimator with a strong & varied building projects background, extensive knowledge of all aspects of new build construction & refurbishment contracts across numerous industry sectors / build types.
  • Previously or currently working for a main contractor – this business delivers only main contractor services.
  • Strong knowledge of current CDM 2015 Health and Safety requirements, modern methods of construction & construction contractual awareness.
  • PC literate & strong in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project & Excel.
  • Experienced in using estimating software packages.
  • HNC, Diploma, or Degree qualified in a construction‑related subject – an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience procuring small & large subcontract packages.
  • Ability to successfully manage a range of contracts simultaneously.
