Role Overview

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) and Bereavement care.

This post is a combined Obstetrics and Gynaecology role within the Trust’s maternity care services.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead obstetric and gynaecology services within the specialised area.
• Cover the labour ward on a rotational basis.
• Run ante‑natal and general gynaecology clinics; perform elective and emergency theatre work.
• Take a specific leadership role in PMRT processes and bereavement care.
• Oversee timely, accurate and compassionate multidisciplinary reviews of perinatal deaths.
• Ensure learning is embedded and families are supported throughout the review process.
• Collaborate closely with the Bereavement Midwifery Team, neonatal colleagues, governance and the Local Maternity & Neonatal System (LMNS) to maintain high safety and care standards.
• Collaborate with external academic and tertiary partners, such as King’s College London and regional networks, to deliver specialist services.
