Manchester Central Foodbank are pleased to be recruiting for the key role of CEO, leading a team of c5 staff plus being the focal point for many volunteers who support the running of our three foodbank sessions each week. The role is a permanent part time or fractional role, aiming for c3 days per week, post a probationary period of 6 months. The salary is flexible depending on experience but c£42k pro rata. We have completed a strategic workforce review and we need you to come and help us get to the next level to support us to service our customers even better.
Manchester Central Foodbank is a busy Trussell Trust-affiliated food bank, with centres in Central, North, and East Manchester. We were established in Ardwick in 2013 by students at the Manchester Universities’ Catholic Chaplaincy, making us the first student-led food bank in the country. Since then we have grown significantly, expanding our weekly sessions into Harpurhey and Openshaw.
Our core aims are to deliver the best quality support that we can to the largest number of our neighbours in need, while working with partners and influencing and organising at a neighbourhood and citywide level to reduce and end the need for food banks in Manchester.
The CEO will help the Board strategically and operationally and will lead the delivery of the new Strategic Workforce Plan following the recent review. The CEO will be responsible for managing the team, performance reviews and communication at all levels. They will also carry out financial/payroll inputs, H&S, HR and deal with day to day issues. They will be the key fundraising person developing and leading approaches to grants, corporates and high net worth individual donors.
This is very much a hands‑on role as you would expect from a small charity.
We hope to add to the team in the future, pending funding, of focused fundraising and admin support.
