Senior Project Engineer – SI/ICA – DSEAR & COSHH

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join the Engineering team at Yorkshire Water and help deliver our Capital Construction Programme.

Location

Hybrid working with regular travel to Yorkshire Water sites and offices.

Work Type

Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical supervision and line management of a team of Project Technicians.
  • Technically manage and coordinate the design and safe delivery of engineered MEICA projects within the Specialist Projects portfolio.
  • Ensure delivery of all projects complies with CDM regulations as Principal Contractor and supports the Client & Principal Designer.
  • Ensure adherence to YW Engineering specification and associated documentation.
  • Drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and work control to comply with the YW safety Policy.
  • Ensure robust financial management and commercial awareness informs all business decisions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • ICA based apprenticeship or Engineering degree/BTEC in ICA Engineering (or equivalent – ONC/HNC).
  • FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland).
  • Understanding of control of works principles – permits, POWRA, RAMS etc.
  • Broad experience with electrical and ICA equipment to produce engineered solutions.
  • Thorough knowledge of CDM regulations and practical application.
  • Understanding of design and project delivery processes including hazard identification, risk assessment and site supervision.
  • Responsive to a variety of technical and non-technical detailed queries.
  • Experience with ATEX standards.
  • Application of formal SI & ICA project delivery procedures – URS, SRS, P&IDs, FDS, FAT, SAT & O&Ms.
  • Detailed knowledge of SI & ICA best practice and standards.
  • Experience optimising SI control systems in complex ICA technology landscape.

Desirable

  • Experience in a regulated utility or major asset management/delivery environment.
  • Previous experience in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of SI, Automation and Instrumentation technologies in a water utility context.
  • Knowledge of BS7671, BS EN 61511, BS EN 13849, BS EN 62061 and other relevant legislation/standards.
  • Knowledge of Schneider PLC platform, Mitsubishi (IEC 61131), Allen Bradley HMI/PLC systems, and iFix SCADA.
  • Understanding of process safety activities and documentation (engineering risk assessment, safety reviews).

Working Model

Hybrid setup with an average of 1–2 days in the office per week and working on operational sites, with flexibility for additional on‑site days if required.
