Role Overview

Deputy shop managers are commercially aware and constantly look for new business opportunities, motivating their teams and creating a safe and energised work environment. They set high standards, drive results, and are accountable for their business.

Key Skills and Competencies Required

• Support development and maintenance of a successful, inclusive and diverse team able to manage day‑to‑day shop activities.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to support effective retail processes and strong merchandising.
• Collaborate with the shop manager and build positive relationships with colleagues, provide excellent customer service, and engage with the local community and civil‑society organisations.
• Demonstrate resilience to everyday pressures, manage conflicting demands, and seek appropriate support, advice and guidance when needed.
• Numerate and financially literate; interpret basic financial reports, monitor budgets and maintain shop administrative systems.
