Senior Clinical Fellow – Intensive Care

These exciting fellowships offer an opportunity for experienced intensive care doctors with at least 18 months anaesthetic experience to broaden their skills in ICU. The successful candidate will develop their educational CV, gain POCUS accreditation, undertake research or explore their leadership and management potential. Opportunities also exist within the burgeoning field of Digital Health and Innovation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in quality improvement projects, teaching and research, with a view to local and national presentations.
  • Cover areas set out in the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine and Royal College of Anaesthetists recommendations for specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care.
  • Support Portfolio Pathway (CESR) competencies for the ICM or Anaesthetic curricula CCT.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Registered with the GMC.
  • Minimum 5 years of post‑graduation medical experience.
  • Minimum 18 months of anaesthetic/airway experience.
  • Capable of delivering Intensive Care Medicine at ST3+ (Registrar) level or equivalent.
  • Support can be provided for the Primary FRCA exam if not obtained.

Education and Qualifications

  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • ALS certification.

Desirable

  • Primary FRCA.
  • APLS/ATLS or equivalent.
  • Experience in teaching/simulation.
  • Experience in research.
  • Clinical NHS experience.

Skills and Knowledge / Personal Qualities

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Well organised, conscientious; ability to complete projects.
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English.
  • Flexible, objective and assertive.
