Are you looking to build a career in engineering where you can contribute to complex, high-impact projects from day one? Do you want to be part of a team that delivers real-world solutions in a highly regulated environment, with clear opportunities to learn, grow and progress into a Project Engineer role? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join a skilled and collaborative team at the forefront of nuclear decommissioning.
Based at Dungeness A, you’ll join a multidisciplinary Project Engineering Team responsible for delivering construction, de-planting and demolition solutions that enable critical site programmes to move forward safely and efficiently. Supporting a high-priority Boilers and Ancillary Plant Removal workstream, you’ll gain hands‑on experience while being supported through a structured personal development plan designed to accelerate your progression and expand your engineering capability.
What Will You Be Doing
Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll play an active role in delivering engineering solutions that support major site activities. You’ll contribute to technical analysis, problem‑solving and the preparation of engineering documentation, while ensuring that all work is delivered in line with strict safety, quality and regulatory requirements. This is a role where you’ll be encouraged to learn, take ownership within your capability, and continuously develop your technical expertise.
You’ll also be involved in supporting plant modifications, maintaining engineering records, and contributing to project delivery activities, all within a collaborative and safety‑focused environment.
- Supporting engineering delivery through analysis, problem‑solving and technical input across projects
- Assisting with the preparation of modification proposals and acting as a Nominated Responsible Engineer (with support)
- Producing and maintaining accurate technical documentation and records
- Ensuring all work complies with safety, quality and environmental standards while contributing to continuous improvement
Who Are We Looking For
You’re an enthusiastic and driven individual with a genuine interest in engineering and a desire to develop your career within a complex, highly regulated environment. You bring a solid academic foundation ideally a degree or at minimum an HNC in an engineering or science discipline and are eager to apply your knowledge in a practical, site‑based role. Just as importantly, you’re someone who takes initiative, embraces learning opportunities, and works well as part of a team.
You’ll be confident in your ability to communicate, solve problems within your level of responsibility, and deliver work to a high standard. While previous experience in industrial, nuclear or project environments isn’t essential, any exposure to these areas will be highly valued, particularly an understanding of engineering standards, safety practices and project delivery.
- A degree (or minimum HNC) in engineering or a science‑based discipline
- A proactive, can‑do attitude with the drive to learn, develop and progress within an engineering role
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering work that meets safety and quality expectations
- The ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively and contribute to team and project objectives
