Job Description:

Salary: £80,000-£90,000 plus package.

CJS is a contractor delivering specialist fit‑out, refurbishment and decarbonisation projects across the commercial sector. Following continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are looking to appoint either a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor to work directly alongside one of the company’s Directors and become a key part of the commercial function.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone looking to take ownership of projects commercially whilst helping shape processes and support the next stage of growth.

Projects typically range from £50k to £2.5m, with selected schemes extending up to £16m+.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial delivery of fit‑out, refurbishment and decarbonisation projects
  • Ownership of cost reporting, forecasting, CVRs and commercial performance
  • Subcontract procurement, package management and account administration
  • Managing variations, change control and final accounts
  • Supporting project teams through delivery and maintaining commercial control
  • Working closely with Directors on strategy, risk and commercial decisions
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff within a growing team
  • Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners

  • Commercial fit‑out (CAT A and CAT B)
  • Specialist works and refurbishment projects
  • Decarbonisation and building upgrade programmes
  • Typical values: £50k to £2.5m (with larger schemes up to £16m+)
  • End‑user led environments and occupied buildings
  • Projects across London, Gatwick, Hertfordshire and occasional regional work

Requirements

  • Experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager
  • Background delivering fit‑out, refurbishment, M&E, building services or decarbonisation projects
  • Strong commercial ownership across cost reporting, procurement and final accounts
  • Experience managing subcontract packages and project financial performance
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑moving environment with direct exposure to senior leadership
  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management preferred
  • White CSCS Card preferred
