Purpose & Scope of the Role
Join Tetra Tech and help shape some of the UK’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes across the security, defence and nuclear sectors. Working within a high‑performing Project Controls team, you’ll play a key role in delivering major new‑build and refurbishment projects where precision planning and proactive programme management are critical to success.
Your Impact in this Position
This is an opportunity to influence critical infrastructure delivery by providing robust, data‑driven planning expertise. You’ll work closely with project and programme teams to improve project certainty, identify risks early and drive informed decision‑making. You’ll apply first‑principles planning techniques, develop risk‑adjusted schedules and support integrated programme delivery across multidisciplinary teams. Your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, communicate effectively and solve complex scheduling challenges will directly contribute to successful project outcomes.
Core Capabilities
- Programme Development & Control: Develop, maintain and optimise complex project schedules across major infrastructure programmes. Produce NEC‑compliant programmes and support programme acceptance activities. Monitor progress, analyse performance and support recovery planning.
- Planning & Scheduling Expertise: Build programmes from first principles for large‑scale construction and engineering projects. Apply three‑point estimating, time risk allowance and risk‑adjusted scheduling techniques. Deliver planning solutions for projects with significant non‑routine requirements.
- Programme Assurance & Risk Analysis: Conduct integrity reviews using DCMA and CIOB scheduling principles. Review supply chain and third‑party schedules to ensure programme quality and compliance. Support quantitative schedule risk analysis and Monte‑Carlo simulation activities.
- Technical Systems & Tools: Use industry‑standard planning software including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project and Asta Powerproject. Contribute to advanced schedule risk analysis using tools such as Primavera Risk Analysis, Predict! and RiskHive Arrisca. Apply digital tools and data‑driven insights to improve programme performance.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships across project, engineering and programme teams. Communicate complex scheduling information clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Bring an agile, solutions‑focused approach to project delivery challenges.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
You’ll ideally hold MACOSTE, MCIOB, MAPM or equivalent professional accreditation, alongside proven experience in project planning within major infrastructure, defence or highly regulated environments. Experience in the defence sector and quantitative schedule risk analysis would be highly advantageous. Security clearance eligibility is essential.
Working Environment
This role offers flexibility alongside collaboration within a technically focused engineering environment. Hybrid working arrangements are available, with a blend of office, client‑site and remote working depending on project requirements. Regular collaboration with project teams is expected, including approximately 2–3 days per week in the office or on site.
Equal Opportunity Statement
In alignment with the Equality Act 2010, we will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace. Please inform us if you need any accommodations during the recruitment process or in your day‑to‑day role.
