We are looking for Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our established ward team in Portree Hospital, a community hospital situated in the north of Skye. The ward is led by GP’s from Portree Medical Practice Monday – Friday and is supported by Broadford Hospital in South Skye during out‑of‑hours. A busy Urgent Care Centre operates from the hospital and nursing staff assist Advanced Practitioners when required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care to ward patients, including rehabilitation, end‑of‑life/palliative care and dementia care.
- Perform clinical interventions such as enteral feeding via PEG.
- Assist Advanced Practitioners and support the GP team during routine and out‑of‑hours periods.
- Participate in discharge planning to enable patients to return home when possible.
- Use clinical judgement and initiative when GP’s or Advanced Practitioners are not on site.
- Work day and night duties, with internal rotation of responsibilities across the hospital.
- Collaborate closely with sister hospital Broadford to provide continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Band 5 Registered Nursing qualification.
- Experience in ward nursing, rehabilitation, end‑of‑life/palliative care or dementia care preferred.
