Our client is a leading manufacturer of specialist packaging products supplied across Europe. The Role
As the Health & Safety Team Lead, you will play a key role in driving Health, Safety, and Environmental performance across the site. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will lead HSE initiatives, ensure legal compliance, promote a proactive safety culture, and support continuous improvement throughout the operation. This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone who can influence at all levels, challenge where necessary, and work collaboratively with operational teams to deliver meaningful improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a positive and proactive safety culture across the site
- Act as the lead for all HSE matters and influence behaviours at all levels
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to embed HSE into daily operations
- Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety and environmental legislation
- Support risk assessments, safe systems of work, and permit‑to‑work processes
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety tours, ensuring actions are completed effectively
- Lead and support incident investigations and root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventative actions
- Monitor HSE performance data and identify trends for improvement
- Manage statutory reporting requirements
- Oversee environmental compliance relating to waste, emissions, and resource usage
- Support sustainability initiatives and environmental improvement projects
- Support behavioural safety initiatives and workforce engagement
- Maintain HSE systems, records, and documentation
- Support ISO audits and ensure documentation remains compliant and accessible
About You
We are seeking candidates with at least 3 years’ HSE experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment. You will be a confident communicator with a practical, hands‑on approach and the confidence to elevate concerns when required.
- Proven HSE experience within manufacturing or industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Awareness of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems (Desirable)
- Experience within plastics, packaging, or food manufacturing (Desirable)
- Quality leadership experience (Desirable)
