Hamilton Specialist Referrals is a purpose‑built state‑of‑the‑art veterinary hospital providing the latest in cutting‑edge specialist treatments for cats and dogs, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility. The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and offers the most advanced treatment options available for orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue, and internal medicine cases, including a 16‑slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI, fluoroscopy, and dedicated radiography and ultrasound rooms.
Responsibilities
- Cover a variety of nursing duties across prep, theatre, wards and imaging.
- Monitor anaesthesia and sedations of patients undergoing diagnostic imaging, surgery, and/or rechecks.
- Assist in theatre to cover the circulatory nurse role.
- Place arterial lines, central lines and administer nerve blocks under the supervision of an anaesthetist.
- Provide support to the surgery and neurology departments and serve as a point of contact to clients, including organising admits and discharges.
- Provide excellent standards of patient care in our Wards and HDU.
- Support the out‑of‑hours team by admitting and stabilising emergency cases.
Working Pattern
A full‑time position covers 40 hours per week across a rolling six‑week rota. We offer a four‑day working week, which comprises four 9.25‑hour shifts between 15:45 and 22:30 during the week, plus a one‑in‑six weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday). Bank holidays are scheduled at two days per year.
