Overview
We are seeking an experienced psychologist or senior social worker to join the Safer Connections Service (SCS). The role supports children and young people aged 7‑17 who display harmful sexual behaviour, delivering consultation, assessment, intervention and support within a multi‑agency framework.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality service to children, families, caregivers and victims of harmful sexualised behaviour.
- Assess and manage risk of harmful sexualised behaviour, practices, and outcomes.
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with partner agencies across the Birmingham Children’s Trust network, Child in Needs, safeguarding, child care services, youth justice and police.
- Develop and deliver bespoke interventions and programmes of education and support tailored to children, young people and their parents and caregivers.
- Apply evidence‑based practice and research in all aspects of service delivery.
- Provide professional supervision and mentorship where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should have:
- A clinical or forensic psychology qualification, or senior social work registration.
- Experience working with children and young people who display harmful sexualised behaviours, and with those who have histories of early adversity, social care or youth justice involvement.
- Strong skills in formulation, risk assessment, and looking beyond behaviour.
- Demonstrated interest in evidence‑based practice and research.
- Experience with trauma‑informed approaches and significant attachment disruption best.
