Role Summary

This role is within RM’s Assessment division as part of the Professional Services function, in RM Assessment Service and Operations. The PMO function acts as the central hub for delivery excellence, enabling predictable delivery outcomes, informed decision making, and scalable growth. The PMO Manager is part of the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) capability and alongside other PPM colleagues will be responsible for establishing, operating, and continuously improving the programme and project management framework across RM Assessment. This role could provide customer facing delivery support for customer implementations as well as internal change initiatives where required. The role also has a focus to ensure the internal business operates its PPM delivery with consistent standards, governance, and portfolio level insight.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Governance & Performance Management

  • Manage the RM Assessment portfolio governance framework, ensuring consistent application across all programmes and projects.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for portfolio performance, including status, risks, dependencies, financials, and resource utilisation.
  • Produce executive level reporting, dashboards, and insights to support strategic decision making.
  • Facilitate portfolio reviews, prioritisation cycles, and investment discussions with senior leadership.
  • Monitor delivery health and intervene early to support recovery or escalation.

Delivery Support for Customer Implementations and Internal Change Initiatives

  • Provide PMO support to Customer Implementations and Internal Change Initiatives, ensuring structured mobilisation, planning, and governance.
  • Support Programme and Project Managers with planning, RAID management, reporting, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure delivery teams follow agreed ways of working, templates, and controls.
  • Coordinate cross functional alignment between Professional Services, Product, Engineering, and Operations during onboarding and delivery.
  • Track implementation performance and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.

Standards, Methods & Ways of Working

  • Define, maintain, and evolve the RM Assessment delivery methodology, including templates, processes, and tools.
  • Champion consistent ways of working across all delivery teams, ensuring alignment with Professional Services and wider business standards.
  • Lead training, onboarding, and capability uplift for project delivery roles.
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance, audit requirements, and industry best practice (Agile, PRINCE2, MSP).

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Senior PMO role within technology, digital transformation, or education technology.
  • Strong understanding of project and programme delivery, including Agile and waterfall environments.
  • Ability to design and operate an integrated Microsoft Office 365 environment that enables consistent governance, streamlined reporting and seamless collaboration across the PPM capability and wider Service & Operations function.
  • Demonstrable experience in portfolio reporting, governance frameworks, and performance analytics.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical capability and proficiency with reporting tools (Power BI).
  • Experience supporting client facing implementations or Professional Services environments.
  • Ability to design and embed standards, processes, and ways of working across diverse teams.

Desirable

  • Experience in EdTech, digital assessment, SaaS, or similar product led environments.
  • Experience establishing or maturing a PMO in a scaling organisation.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, service transition, or operational readiness.
  • Experience enhancing PMO maturity by leveraging Microsoft 365 to automate workflows, improve productivity, and create a unified, data‑driven view of delivery performance.
  • Experience with resource management, capacity planning, or financial tracking.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards relevant to digital delivery (ISO 27001).
  • Exposure to contractual governance, commercial frameworks, or vendor management.

Essential UK Professional Qualifications (any of the following)

  • PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • P3O Practitioner
  • Management of Portfolios (MoP) Practitioner
  • APM PMQ (Project Management Qualification)
  • APM PPQ (Project Professional Qualification)
  • MSP Foundation/Practitioner (Managing Successful Programmes)
