About the Opportunity

The Cumberland Youth Connect Team is looking to recruit a Senior Child Exploitation Intervention Worker to provide a range of interventions and support to children and young people who are at risk of and are victims of child exploitation (the term child exploitation now includes all forms of exploitation including sexual and criminal).

Salary: £38,220 to £39,152 per annum | Hours: 37 hours per week | Location: Cumberland Wide | Contract: Temporary (12-months)

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of an integrated team, collaborating with multi‑agency teams to ensure all professionals in the service understand child exploitation.
  • Manage the most complex cases, lead on the planning of interventions to support children in exiting exploitation and staying safe, identify perpetrators using intelligence gathering, and maintain a therapeutic relationship with young people.
  • Support the completion of return home interviews with young people who go missing and are at risk of child exploitation.
  • Contribute to the development of consistent policy, practice and procedure guidance and support the team manager in service development, best practice and training delivery.
  • Facilitate and lead group supervision, offering supervision to staff within the team.
  • Coordinate missing children cases, gather information and data and support the wider service area with effective safety planning.
  • Hold a caseload of families and individuals who are at risk of or victims of child exploitation, working to support the children and their families.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Early Help, Children’s Social Care and Signs of Safety, including thresholds for safeguarding and appropriate referral practice.
  • Proactive, caring approach to supporting vulnerable people.
  • Ability to travel independently across the region, including rural settings.
