Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to develop their career. The role will involve supervising band 7 qualified clinicians and students, taking a lead role in service developments, and supporting the day‑to‑day running of Merton SPA, including case discussions for junior colleagues, triaging, quality assessments, liaison with partner agencies and participation in the wider multidisciplinary team. Supervision will be provided by the experienced 8a and 8b Professional Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision to band 7 qualified clinicians and students.
- Take a lead role in service developments and implementing new support streams such as self‑referrals for 16‑17 year olds, short‑term treatment sessions and enhanced consultation to schools.
- Lead the day‑to‑day running of Merton SPA, including supporting case discussions for junior colleagues.
- Triage and provide quality assessments within Merton SPA.
- Coordinate clinical activity to enhance overall coherence of the clinical offer.
- Coordinate with leads of other agencies and teams of relevant services (e.g., health visitors, perinatal services) to align Merton SPA work.
- Advise managers and Professional Leads about clinical issues relating to preschool children and training needs for the team.
- Model high standards of clinical practice in safety, effectiveness and user experience.
- Provide direct therapeutic work in accordance with an agreed job plan.
